One of the benefits of an outdoor ceremony is the natural beauty that surrounds you, but it's important to consider the weather as well. The UK weather is of course, notoriously unpredictable, so it pays to always have a backup plan should the weather take a turn for the worst. 

Most venues that offer outdoor wedding spaces usually do have an indoor option too, so you’ll want to discuss and agree what your contingency is should the heavens open, it’s like being inside an oven or it simply becomes too cold and uncomfortable to be outside come the big day. 

Keep an eye on the forecast leading up to your wedding day and have a backup plan in case of rain or extreme temperatures. Make sure that umbrellas will be on hand (outdoor venues often have a stock of them), and / or heaters to keep your guests comfortable. 

 

When choosing an outdoor ceremony location, consider the logistics of getting there and setting up. Is the location easily accessible for guests, suppliers, and any necessary equipment? Is there enough space for your desired number of guests and any additional features like a dance floor? Keep in mind any permit requirements or noise restrictions in the area as well. Local councils may consider permitting you using a stretch of public beach but do contact them well in advance of your chosen date to discuss regulations and what’s required.
