Hi there!
Forget the humdrum, and say goodbye to boring weddings.
Instead, put some 'wow' into your wedding with a customised, personal wedding written especially for you!
Fewer couples are seeing a registry office, registrar in a licenced venue or a faith based wedding as the ideal thing for them.
Why not avoid what some see as the dreary surroundings of the registry office, the stuffiness of clerical services and all the impersonal blurb that goes with it?

What is a
Humanist Wedding Ceremony?
A Humanist wedding is a non-religious wedding ceremony, centred on the love and commitment between two people and where nothing else matters - be this ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender or anything else.
Of course you don’t need to be a Humanist yourself to have a Humanist wedding ceremony. In fact, the complete opposite applies with inclusivity for all regardless of faith, creed, race, gender, sexual orientation or anything else. Everyone is welcome!
Many couples choose a Humanist ceremony as they want to celebrate their union in a manner that is non religious and is inclusive of all beliefs.
However, non-religious doesn't mean anti-religious. Everyone is welcome at a Humanist Ceremony!
Will we need to register our wedding for it to be official?
It’s hoped that the law in England and Wales will very shortly be brought into line with Scotland and Northern Ireland where Humanist weddings have been legally recognised since 2005 (it was once again discussed in the House of Lords as recently as May 2022), however for now, you’ll also need to do the 'legal bit' at a registery office.
This short, legal service is usually referred to as a '2+2' - you, plus the Registrar and attending witness.
It's a pain, and it's discriminatory (the High Court stated so in its 2020 ruling) but I can advise you on how to do this with minimum cost. Most local authorities charge in the region of around £70 to do it for you.
Most couples usually get this out of the way shortly before their their Humanist ceremony, with this seen as their ‘proper wedding’.
Of course, should the law change in the time before your wedding day, all you would need to then do is cancel your appointment at the Registry Office and I would conduct your wedding and all the formalities required to make it legally recognised.
Many wedding venues offer the option for you to book a Registrar to attend and conduct the wedding on location.
My Blog also has a post with some very useful info on what to weigh up when considering if a Celebrant or Registrar is the right option for you:
And what about the cost comparison?
In the North East and North Yorkshire, Registrar fees for attending venues are typically in the same ball park as my fees (for example, in Northumberand they range from £437 to £522 depending whether you're looking for a Mon-Thu date or a weekend / Bank Holiday).
So, as you can see, there's little to differentiate when it comes to the cost.
